This popular Portuguese taverna is an “institution”. Dias Tavern (inspired by the 17th century explorer Bartolomeu Dias) has been around for a very long time and (many would say) serves the best Portuguese food in Cape Town.
Don’t be deceived by the kitsch interior, plastic chairs and tables and all round shabby look… the vibe is festive and the food is intensely delicious! Menu favourites include spicy chicken trinchado, chorizo and espatada, all exploding with flavour and loads of garlic.
