10:30 – 13:00Â |Â Makers’Â |Â ZAR180.00 BOOKÂ
Inspired by botanical themes from the work of Marion Arnold, this mixed media workshop encourages a digging beyond the metaphorical flowerbed: participants will be guided through various observational drawing exercises of floral subject matter, and experiment with playful layering techniques and decorative patterning, as it speaks to the layering of (often female) identity.
All materials and equipment will be provided. No previous experience needed. Kindly note that, due to the nature of this workshop, refunds cannot be offered for cancellations.
Fynbos Through Artists’ Eyes – the creation of the Grootbos Florilegium
11:00 – 12:00 | Rupert Museum | 50:00
The talk coincides with the Museum Saturday programme of the Rupert Museum and joins hands with the latest instalment of the Artist Spotlight Series featuring the work of Dr Marion Arnold (b1947). Arnold as an artist, historian and author contributed to the early recognition, inclusion, and celebration of botanical art on platforms such as the National Arts Festival in the early 1990s.
