Anne McWells of the Art.b Gallery tells us about their annual Tiny Treasures exhibition that is both a show case of artists work and an important fundraiser for the the Arts Association of Belville.
Listen to the Arts Round Up on Fine Music Radio FMR 101.3fm on Fridays at 17h30
Anne explains that Tiny Treasures is an amazing array of artworks measuring 20x20cms by artists selected by the committee of the Arts Association of Belville, who are willing to participate in this popular annual exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is also to raise funds for the gallery generally and to enable Art.b to run the Vuleka competition. The artists do get paid for their work, with the selling price capped at R2 400.00.
So you do need to hurry and see what is still available, as the exhibition ends next week on the 30 June. Even if the choice is limited, you will still be treated to seeing the selection that covers the works of painters, sculptors and ceramists – including John Bouwer, Brahm van Zyl and Willie Bester (photo above) to name but a few. Lots of treasures and a wonderful show!
The Vuleka Art Competition, a beneficiary of this fundraiser, has a first prize o R50 000.00 and submissions must be in by 4 July. The information on how to enter is given below. Vulelka in Xhosa means ‘open’.
Anne McWells tantilises by telling us that the next exhibition is titled Perpetual Memoriam, an exciting exhibition by two artists from Potchefstroom. Watch this space and we’ll tell you more when Anne lets us know.
- Remember that there is only one week left to see Tiny Treasures – so head out to Belville soonest!
