Linking up with Women’s month art commentator and consultant Mary Corrigall has curated a second iteration of this artcrawl for Cape Town art lovers.
Sight and looking from diverse female perspectives remains the focus, however, in this crawl Corrigall explores how women are exploiting their historical link to ‘nature’.
Touching on eco-feminism Corrigall looks at how female artist are dealing, confronting, their gender in their art. In this guided tour through studios in Woodstock, you will meet artists
- Sanell Aggenbach, and at Greatmore Studios
- Thania Petersen and
- Kimathi Mafafo (photo above).
Visitors will be treated to exclusive previews of works created by Aggenbach and Mafafo for their upcoming solo exhibitions at Whatiftheworld in Joburg and Ebony/Curated in Cape Town respectively. Petersen regularly exhibits at Everard Read and will give deeper insight into the series that will be exhibited in the opening exhibition at Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art.
The crawl will conclude at Cinta Food Market, where you can graze on Asian, African or Malay artisanal cuisine (at your own expense). Space is limited and booking in advance is essential.
