Artscape celebrates its 55th anniversary on 19 May 2026 with a commemorative programme under the theme A Place for All, honouring its rich legacy while embracing an inclusive and dynamic future.
Established in 1971 as the Nico Malan Theatre, Artscape has evolved from an exclusive apartheid-era venue into a vibrant cultural hub that reflects and serves the diversity of South African society. Today, it stands as a symbol of unity, creativity, and transformation.
This milestone programme brings together artists, learners, partners, and communities in a day of reflection and celebration, highlighting Artscape’s impact on the performing arts, its role in education, and its commitment to meaningful cultural exchange.

The 15th Annual High School Nasheed Competition celebrates faith, talent, and youthful expression, bringing learners together to uplift and inspire through spiritually rooted performances.
