South African choreographer Veronica Paeper created Camille in 1990, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, The Lady of the Camellias, and set to the music of Verdi’s opera La Traviata. Prima ballerina Tracy Li returns for two performances as the doomed courtesan Marguerite, who has fallen in love beyond her station. The Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will accompany, conducted by Allan Stephenson.
