Having  established Kalk Bay Modern 16 years ago, Cheryl Rumbak is delighted that its their 16th Sculpture & Ceramics Exhibition – a very popular annual event. Cheryl focuses on several well known names such as Leora Kewis, Cathy Glenday, Clementina v d Walt, Henny Meyer and Ralph Johnston to whet our appetite. Cheryl highlights very popular Lisa Ringwood whose work is extremely sought after and always a sell-out. Unfortunately, you can’t see the pieces on air, which means that you will have to get out to Kalk Bay Modern to see for yourself. See further down for a complete list of all the artists on exhibition.

16th Ceramics & Culture Exhibition,

Cheryl mentions some new artists such as Alexana Stott who makes porcelain proteas, which are particularly popular with tourists. Among the sculptors she highlights Chris Bladen who creates birds in bronze (you can see one below). Sculptor Ettiene de Kock works in metal. Altogether a wide variety of work to engage with. It’s a well attended and successful show, which is why it is done every year..

Cheryl agrees that the view from the windows at Kalk Bay Modern makes for terrific competition, which is why she has to make the exhibition as beautiful inside the galleryKalk Bay Modern,There is always a variety of other work to see, besides the work on this specific exhibition. Cheryl mentions that they change  what’s available at Kalk Bay Modern on a weekly basis. Currently there is new work from Ben Coustividis, Simon Stone, William Kentridge and South African printmakers.
