With physical screenings taking place across Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Durban for the European Film Festival, there are plenty of opportunities to get out, meet up with friends, discover something unexpected and experience the magic of cinema on the big screen.
I was privileged to view Colours of Time from France, which will also feature on the online programme.
LA VENUE DE L’AVENIR | COLOURS OF TIME (France)
Fascinating in how it moved time zones, and the interactions between then and now,
When four cousins, previously strangers, are united by their inheritance of an old house in rural Normandy, their investigation into the story of their ancestors takes them on a journey to 19th century Paris where an old age is dying and a new, Impressionist age is about to be born. As their quest leads them to discover more about their history, the family may yet be surprised in ways no one could have imagined and learn that despite their differences, they’re all shaped by a past they never really knew until now.
Beautifully and amazingly filmed.
I was as intrigued by the different styles as much as the story lines it reflected.
The online programme is a little smaller this year, with four films available to watch online: A Family from the Netherlands, Christy from Ireland, Porcelain War from Ukraine, and Colours of Time from France. ENJOY!
