Celebrate the annual grape harvest!

The Harvest of the Arts weekend festival is in line with Spier’s progressive policy of supporting performing arts of high quality and artistic integrity.

The historic Stellenbosch wine farm is celebrating the annual grape harvest with a weekend festival of cultural abundance to delight the soul and senses from Saturday, 25 February – Sunday, 26 February 2023 starting at 12:00 till 20:30.

Third World Bunfight, which runs the performing arts program at Spier, has devised a diverse programme with top localBrett Bailey, Harvest of the Arts artists to create an intriguing, spirited festival.

The annual harvest is a time of intense energy on the farm. We are celebrating this period of abundance with a festival of outstanding artists. At Spier we champion artistic merit and cultural richness.”  – Brett Bailey, Director of Third World Bunfight

An enchanting children’s theatre performance entitled ‘How to Hold the World’, written and directed by Juliette Rose-Innes, starts off the program each day at noon.

Away from the main stage, in quiet nooks under the oaks, guests can attend afternoon poetry recitals by local writers such as Kobus Moolman, Jacques Coetzee and Dominique Botha, and can gather for a collective outdoor meditation on the river bank each evening. At 19:00, a spectacular harvest thanksgiving ritual featuring the Tierra Flamenca dancers and an ensemble of percussionists will precede the sunset concert.

“Taste three hundred years of winemaking heritage. Ethical farming, the health of the soil and the people who work it. Artistic endeavour and absolute care in the crafting of our wines. This is what matters to us.”  BRAVO Spier!
