The Waterfront Theatre College, renowned for its diverse vocational training, showcases their dance department with a new production Hit me with a Hot Note at the Artscape Arena.

The show runs from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 July 2016 at 20.00 and Saturday 16th at 3pm and 8pm.

Conceived by Delia Sainsbury, Hit me with a Hot Note is inspired by the opening line of the famous jazz song ‘Hit me with a Hot Note and watch me dance!’

‘I want to explore the use of rhythm across a range of dance genres’, Delia states, ‘presenting a new generation of choreographers and the growing wealth of dance talent.

In addition to highlighting the best of the college’s dance faculty, Hit me with a Hot Note is a fundraising event for The Waterfront Theatre College Bursary Fund. This fund helps to support young artists who may not have the resources to access further training. All proceeds from the show go to funding a future generation of dance practitioners.

Included in the production are works by the winners of The Waterfront Theatre College Annual Choreographic Competition and involves over 30 dancers and singers. Guest artist are vocalists Rushney Ferguson and Shannyn Fourie.

Director and Costume Designs are by Delia Sainsbury, Decor and Lighting designs by Deon Bisschoff, Choreography by William Jones, Shona Brabant, Simone Marshall and James Bradley.

The college continues to fill a vital gap in the National Performing Arts industry. As the industry evolves so does the college. To see exactly what they do go and see Hit me with a Hot Note! …. It’s fun, sassy and highly entertaining.
