Jenny Jacobs, now living in Cape Town has a Solo exhibition at The Cape Gallery CC, which will be opening on Sunday, 11th October at 11 am.
“Through bold composition, expressive brushstrokes, abstracted shapes and vibrant colour, I try to capture the feeling of being in a particular place, the sense of space and the emotion of being there. My colour palette consists of a range of blues and oranges, greens and reds. I like to use Veridian green, Alizon crimson and Prussian blue to create my dark areas and Titanium white, Naples yellow and yellow ochre for the light contrasts.”
” In my painting of The Sea Point Promenade, I wanted to convey the essence of the scene – a vibrant space filled with people and their dogs, walking, jogging or kayaking, taking in the smell of the sea air or watching the waves crashing against the wall. I chose this specific scene as I walk daily on the promenade at different times of the day.”
While living in London, I attended the Hampstead School of Art, where I rekindled my passion for painting, particularly my love of landscapes.
Now based in Cape Town, I draw inspiration from the landscapes around me and from the many places I encounter on my travels to Southern Africa, Europe and Australia.”
