by | Aug 2, 2020 | News | 0 comments

Jordan’s Gift is an online fundraising concert on August 9.  Prior to taking up a scholarship to the prestigious Chetham School of Music in Manchester in the UK to study music, the brilliant young violinist Jordan Brooks, winner of the 2019 National Youth Music Competition, is giving one last concert.

Jordan, 16 of Fairways, the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra’s concertmaster, will be the focus of Jordan’s Gift, an online fundraising concert with pianists Tertia Visser-Downie and Gerhard Joubert, violinist Refiloe Olifant and cellist Graham du Plessis. They will perform, on August 9, works by Brahms. Sarasate, Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, Dvorak and Ponce.

The concert is being presented by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

To add to the buzz around the concert, Nic Barrow of Le Lude has given the CPO a magnum of 2012 Le Lude Cap Classique, valued at R1840 to raffle in his honour.

Tickets for the concert are R75, R100 for concert and a chance to win the bubbly, and R50 for a magnum ticket alone.

Says Nic Barrow, “We are exceptionally proud of this talented young man and we wish him the very best as he begins this new chapter abroad. We have no doubt that he will proudly uphold both the CPO and South African flags throughout his endeavours and we look forward to seeing the great heights that this young star shall reach.”

Brooks plans to leave on August 28, planes permitting, to take up his scholarship.
