On Saturday the 29th of June the New Church closes its first show Subject as Matter. This show is the first in a series of curated exhibitions, which all draw from the private collection of Piet Viljoen.

Curated by Penny Siopis, Subject as Matter shares work that “resonates with the sensation of self and the sensing of a subject.” Reflecting what she noted as “a deep and generous interest in the human subject [that] lies at the heart of Piet Viljoen’s collection.”

This new private gallery (see mapmyway) is a gem of a museum, showcasing the contemporary art collection of an avid collector.
