  • Monkeybiz

    Founded in the early 90’s by ceramicist Barbara Jackson, this creative beadwork project produces the most original artefacts – from bags and badges to exotic creatures that are to be found in galleries, museums and personal collections all over the world. Biz works with over 450 women beaders from the surrounding townships most of whom operate from home.

  • Cape Town Design Network

    Our vision: Design in Cape Town is recognised as a key enabler for improving lives. This is what we want to achieve: We aim to encourage and facilitate networking between different designers within and from different disciplines. We would like to bring designers together within Cape Town to speak as one voice. We advocate and create awareness about the industry outside the industry. We promote the use of design to solve economic, social, geographic, infrastructural and political legacy problems. We want to connect Cape Town design industry with rest of the world. We promote successful design projects as Cape Town legacy. We create a platform for expression within the industry towards local and national government. We effect change in design policy and perception of design in the public sector. We aim to become the authority in design in Cape Town and the first port of call for knowledge and reference to the industry.   • Imhoff Farm

    At Imhoff Farm there’s plenty to do, from petting the animals to enjoying a cup of coffee or an organic meal. Check out the bird sanctuary and snake park, as well as the farm stall – or even ride a camel. There’s also a market on the first Saturday of every month.

  • The Stables Craft and Culture Centre

    This centre is run by Cafda (The Cape Flats Development Association), which is a non-profit organisation that assists people in the most disadvantaged Cape Flats communities. Cafda provides numerous services including counselling, child protection and training. The centre creates employment by teaching people to make various crafts – pick up some unique gifts that you can see made before your eyes. There is also a tea room serving cakes from their baking project.

  • Montebello Design Centre

    See the work of local artists and crafters or relax over a good meal in tranquil surroundings at Montebello. It’s a non-profit organisation dedicated to job creation and good local design.
