The Reeva Renaissance Runway will honour abused women as they take to the fashion runway at a glamour-filled picnic at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West for the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation.

The Reeva Renaissance Runway, an afternoon high tea and fashion show at beautiful Lourensford Wine Estate on Saturday November 25, “aims to bring women from all walks of life together to empower women affected by domestic violence, remember those who have lost their lives and honour those who have taken the brave step to rise above it,” said Kim Martin, CEO of the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation.

With a dress code of “picnics and pastels”, celebrities and guests will enjoy a fashion show with models dressed in summer 2018 fashion from top local designers

  • Craig Port,
  • Jade Saunders,
  • Lara Klawikowski, and
  • Bokang Lehabe.

Good Hope FM’s Ayanda Dlamini will MC the event.

Elimination of Violence against Women and Children

“November 25 marks United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children. Violence against women continues to be a global pandemic and is a human rights violation. Statistics South Africa reports the highest number of domestic violence cases in the world. Women recovering from abuse, need the opportunity to build and redevelop their self-esteem and rediscover themselves as women, to once again feel confident enough to call the world their runway,” Martin said.

The Foundation has chosen 16 women (the same number as the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, which starts on November 25) from local shelters and safe houses who will experience a life-changing weekend retreat with coaching and a “mental, physical and emotional make-over”. This will take place on the weekend of November 18.

Award-winning singer-songwriter and TV actress, Tarryn Lamb, who recently performed her debut solo concert in Cape Town to a sold out audience, will perform some of this new material at the Reeva Renaissance picnic.

Proceeds from the event will help the Foundation buy “Reeva Packs” a world-first innovation which contains information and education to stop domestic violence. These packs are distributed to victims by government and private institutions.
