Kids Activity Map
Attention, young creatives: join an exciting museum adventure designed just for you. Throughout Museum Saturday, the museum invites children aged 5 -10 years to explore the museum’s exhibitions through an interactive self-guide map.
By completing the activity, you will be entered into the lucky draw for an art-inspired hamper, with activities to do at home. Parents and guardians are welcome to join in the fun or the rest of the programme’s offerings while they keep an eye on the little ones. This Kids Activity Map takes around 60 minutes to complete.

Naturecultures Drawing Workshop with artist Renée Holleman
Renée Holleman will facilitate a full–day drawing workshop that engages with the local environ of the Rupert Museum. In celebration of Heritage Month, you will explore natureculture relations and ways of belonging to the land. Look forward to storying, noticing, process drawing, outside drawing and experimenting with composition towards the completion of your final artworks.
All materials are provided. We kindly ask that you wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and sunblock for outdoor sketching. Please note that the outdoor sketching will be (please note outdoors weather-dependent.

Beer Tasting with Saggy Stone Brewing Co. (18yrs+)
Join head brewer, Liam, as he guides you through a tasting experience of Saggy Stone Brewing Co.’s core range of craft beers. Discover how the dream of two brothers, Phillip and Adrian Robinson, grew from a fruit farm in Robertson to becoming one of South Africa’s celebrated craft beer brands. You’ll get to taste their Desert Lager, a crisp and refreshing option, the Bear Jam Session IPA with its fruity hop punch, the bold and crisp Citra Nova Brut IPA, and the Rocky River Pale Ale, perfect for those who love a balanced yet flavourful brew. Each beer is crafted using pure mountain water from their farm, adding a unique freshness to every sip. Expect a journey through flavour, craftsmanship, and a story rooted in family tradition and a passion for brewing.

Celebrate Heritage Month this Museum Saturday by binding your own journal for sketching or writing. Cover your creation with bold Shweshwe or other fabrics. Once you’ve chosen your book size and cover, we’ll guide you through covering and assembling your journal, ready for pressing. This is the perfect heritage-inspired gift for yourself or a loved one.
Sizing options will include A4, A5 or A6, depending on availability.

Art for Hearts Project
Join us in spreading joy through art! Your donation will contribute towards art supplies for the Art for Hearts initiative, benefiting pediatric wards in Stellenbosch and surrounds.
Every Museum Saturday, Rupert Museum collects art supplies such as fibre pens, pencils, crayons, and pastels. These will be paired with a Rupert Museum activity pack for young patients, which they will gift during the Festive Season. This R100-purchase will directly fund the project, should you not be able to donate art supplies in person.

#GallerySessions with Angela Stuurman
Angela Stuurman, a rising singer-songwriter from Cape Town, has been captivating audiences with her soulful performances since a young age. Starting with the school choir and progressing to writing her own songs, Angela released her debut album Human in 2017. Her many accolades include winning Best Song Performance at Cape Town Exposed and making it to live auditions for SA’s Got Talent and The Voice. Currently studying Entrepreneurship at CPUT, Angela balances her music career with work, all driven by her passion to inspire others.
You are invited to enjoy refreshments from the Café’s pop-up menu while watching Angela perform.
