Solange explains, that this being Heritage Month and Heritage Day on the 24th, the United 4 Humanity Concert on Friday 26 September, is organised by NOMAD (World of Music Art and Dance) with fantastic musicians in a fantastic festival. All proceeds are in support of the programmes at the Desmond and Leah Tutu House, home of the TRUTH TO OWER EXHIBITION.

Stellenbosch University Choir

WOMAD was started by Peter Gabriel to showcase musicians who are normally under served and under heard. And this aligns with what they do at Desmond and Leah Tutu House, where they bring forth voices to have courageous conversations and highlight issues and people that  we are not talking about.

Solange says they are thrilled to have the musicians come together as music is therapy for the soul. Music can delight where politics sometimes divide. This spectacular showcase of artists from all over the world, bring light to the fact that there is hope even in the darkest places. They aim at the Foundation (the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation) to bring light to those people who are unheard and the Be The Light Campaign that was launched this year aims to bring light to those unheard. It gives the pubic the opportunity to interface with what is done by the foundation.

Sanlam Arts Round Up,

Kids are brought to the exhibition spaces so that history comes to life for them. They understand how in their everyday activities they can apply the principles that Desmond and Leah Tutu taught – Faith and Courage and Hope and Reconciliation. This, even in a time when the world seems fractious and divided.

The musicians will bring the same message. They emulate the spirit behind the principles, which we need to live out every single day.

The Legacy Programme brings young learners to the realisation that honesty and courage matters with friends and family and in the market place tyhat they will one day shape. It brings those values into the business world and political leaders. It is also relevant in the arts.

Solange encourages us to support the United 4 Humanity Concert at St George’s Cathedral. Tickets are available from Quicket. See details below and some more information about the musicians in the United 4 Humanity Concert
