The South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) has opened its doors for a month of stargazing this July, which is SA National Science Month.
If you’ve ever wanted to peer through a historic telescope or learn more about the night sky above Cape Town, July at he Cape Town Observatory offers the perfect opportunity.
The National Research Foundation’s South African Astronomical Observatory (NRF-SAAO) has unveiled a month-long programme of public events, giving visitors the chance to experience astronomy up close through stargazing sessions, guided tours and free educational visits.
The programme also coincides with South African National Science Month, an annual initiative that encourages South Africans of all ages to engage with science, technology and innovation in everyday life.
It’s a month of discovery and you can choose from several experiences throughout the month.
The popular Open Nights will take place on 11 and 25 July, offering the chance to observe the night sky through the Observatory’s historic telescopes while learning from astronomy enthusiasts.
