Join a Zoom Tour as Zeitz MOCAA celebrate artist Senzeni Marasela and her first solo museum exhibition Waiting for Gebane. Their pre-recorded guided online tour will take you on a journey through the artist’s work and will be followed by a live online Q&A with the tour guide via Zoom. Limited slots are available.
“Zeitz MOCAA is committed to contributing to the development and historicisation of the art and culture sector. While our current reality has prevented many of our regular patrons from visiting the museum to enjoy our exhibitions and programming, we hope this latest tour offering will allow them to once engage with us and the artists whose work line our walls,” says Belinda Takamudde, Events Assistant at Zeitz MOCAA.
“Often, artists are not available to field questions during tours, which is what makes this such a unique opportunity for patrons. Not only are they able to experience the exhibitions from home but are also able to engage with the artist on a new level.”
WHEN: Saturday, 21 August at 6.30 pm
WHERE: Zoom Tour – #STAYSAFE and #STAYCONNECTED
COST: R120 via Webtickets
Get to know the artist
Born in 1977 in Thokoza, South Africa, Senzeni Marasela’s art deals with history, memory, and personal narrative, and aims to give voice to overlooked female figures.
She works in photography, video, prints, and mixed-medium installations involving textiles and embroidery.
The bulk of Marasela’s 22-year career is marked by her performance as her character, Theodorah. The character became so entangled with the artist’s own life, that Marasela wore exclusively for six years the same red dress.
