Thembelihle Dunjana, a young jazz pianist, singer and teacher from Gugulethu performs at the 11th Fine Music Radio Take Note concert on Sunday 3 March at Guga S’thebe Theatre in Langa from 3pm.
The award-winning pianist will perform with well-know musicians in the Cape jazz circuit, Muneeb Hermans on trumpet, Sibusiso Matsimela on bass and Kurt Bowers on drums
Dunjana is the winnedr of two awards at the Mzantsi jazz awards, for “best female in jazz” and “best jazz song” for her song from her debut album entitled “Intyatyambo”, which double disc album. She is best known for not only her performance talents, but for her teaching and mentoring in the jazz idiom, for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in music.
She has worked with some of the best musicians including Frank Paco, Sisonke Xonti and Msaki and has performed at the Oslo Jazz festival, the Cape Town Jazz festival and Makhanda Jazz festival. She continues to play at venues around her city.
