TUTU, the internationally acclaimed documentary on the life and legacy of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, is making its African premiere at the Encounters South African International Documentary Festival.
Directed by Emmy and Peabody Award-winner Sam Pollard and built from two decades of never-before-seen archival footage by Benny Gool and Roger Friedman, this is not a biography. It is an encounter – joyful, fierce, tender, and urgent.
Produced by HiddenLight and Universal Pictures Content Group, and executive produced by a group of global changemakers whose own lives bear the imprint of the Arch’s legacy including Trevor Noah, Richard Branson, Dr Ayanda Ntsaluba, Dr Khamane Obed Peter ‘KOP’ Matseke, and our Foundation Chairman Niclas Kjellström-Matseke.
Do not miss this compelling portrait of Desmond Tutu who helped end apartheid, “changing the soul of a nation and inspiring generations worldwide”.
The film is also an endearing tribute to the support of his wife Leah Tutu.
Cape Town is also fortunate to be the home of the Truth to Power Exhibition at the Desmond and Leah Tutu House in Buitekant Street, that explores the role of the churches in the liberation struggle.
