Rust-en-Vrede Gallery + Clay Museum

Rust-en-Vrede Gallery + Clay Museum was originally built in the 1840’s as a prison and police headquarters. It has since then had many purposes, but currently plays the role of local art centre – housing an art gallery, clay museum, eatery, whisky library and various studios. The gallery itself consists of 3 main salons and features rotating exhibitions throughout the year. The Clay Museum, the only one of its kind in South Africa dedicated solely to ceramics, is an affiliate member of the International Academy of Ceramics. Rust-en-Vrede Gallery + Clay Museum is the organiser of both the national Portrait Award competition, as well as the South African Clay Awards.
