The 2019 ARTS + CRAFTS & Antiques Map is now out.  Up on the MapMyWay website now and available from next week at all Cape Town Tourism Visitor Information Centres and that includes Cape Town International.

The 30th annual edition will also be available from all Iziko Museums, and all the listings on the map.  The print map can also be found at leading hotels and guest houses.

The first Arts + Crafts Map appeared in 1989!  And we’ll post a photo of the cover shortly.  That first edition in 1989 was designed by Jenny Sorrel and her ADA Magazine creative team.  Jenny continued to design a series of maps for many years.

More recently the maps were designed by Design Infestation who also helped to develop the MapMyWay website.  The 2019 ARTS + CRAFTS & Antiques Map is designed by  Justin Caris of Rocket House.

Well known artist, Peter Clarke, used a selection of covers of the Arts + Crafts Map in one of his ‘fan’ artworks.

New Listings on the Arts + Crafts Map

Welcome to the Norval Foundation that opened its doors only 6 months ago.  Norval currently has an exhibition Batlhaping Ba Re! which is a solo exhibition by Mmakgabo Mapula Helen Sebidi.   (See cover of 2019 Arts + Crafts Map above and  Blog post)

Another newcomer is A4 Arts Foundation, certainly worth seeing for an extensive David Goldblatt retrospective. (See Blog post)

You really need to go through the 2019 map to pick up on the many new galleries that have opened in and around Cape Town.

The arrival of Zeitz MOCAA in September 2017, seems to have re-energized the art scene in Cape Town
