The Big Issue: Vendor Art

by | May 4, 2016 | News | 0 comments

Vendor artist Ntombikhaya Phandle is featured this month.

Ntombikhaya lives in Langa and is a mother of two. She loves her family very much and works hard to give her children a better future. The Big Issue’s facilitated art sessions are important to her, as she uses this time to relax and enjoy herself – forgetting about her worries and snapping out of the role of mother, wife and caregiver.

She called this artwork Warm Sun because she loves the Cape Town summer.

Her pitch is Canal Walk, Century City.

The Big Issue offers vendors therapeutic art and writing classes as part of its social development programme.

They are taught by artist and facilitator Elaine Millin. The artworks are proudly displayed in The Big Issue’s online gallery – and are for sale. Get your own original artwork for as little as R250, unframed.
