Following their recent sold out success at Suidoosterfees – songstress Louise Howlett performs at the Alexander Bar for one night only with pianist Albert Combrink, Charl Clayton– saxophone and Dylan Tabisher on bass.
Surrounded by the men in her life, Louise sings her blues on Broadway from the early 1930’s of Harold Arlen to staples from Legrand and Lloyd Webber to the new era of Jason Robert Brown and Alice Gillham’s Calling us Home.
The music is sultry and the stories inbetween will, in turn, pull your heartstrings then laugh them loose again.
The Howlett-Combrink duo first collaborated in 2007 when they shared and explored their passion for jazz, Broadway, musicals, classical and other genres, creating their own unique brand of across-the-styles productions. This has taken them travelling all over South Africa performing in concert halls and Blues festivals culminating in the release of their CD Night Sessions.
