This weekend (July 13-14), the usually peaceful town of Franschhoek will come alive in celebration of its French heritage. The 20th annual Bastille Festival is definitely not one to be missed and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever, as the town transforms into a massive celebration of great food, superb wines and all things French!
The focal point of the festival is the Food and Wine Marquee, which will be open from 12pm until 5pm. Other festival activities include boules – the largest and longest running boules competition of its kind, The Waiters’ Race, the Franschhoek minstrel parade, and the popular barrel-rolling contest.
This really is an awesome way to spend your weekend, so why not dust off that red beret and get involved? Entrance tickets range between R150 for general admission, to R550 for the VIP experience, and can be purchased . Tickets are limited, so get on that ASAP!
