Join us for the Open Design Cape Town opening party and the start of 10-days of explosive sharing!

“We will be sharing: The start of the inaugural Open Design Cape Town Festival and 10-days of explosive sharing” reads the invitation.

Taking place on 21 August at the historical Cape Town City Hall, the opening party will feature the first ever music collaboration between the students of Vega School of Brand Leadership and the Cape Audio College, bringing to partygoers a diverse and electrifying line up of DJ’s. The opening party will also feature cellist extraordinaire, Carol Thorns, performing on her distinctive red cello while encapsulated in a her Cellosphere, a clear glass-like luminescent sphere in which she has performed around the world.

“We want to take design to the people and on the night of the twenty-first, we are going to kick off the greatest celebration of design Cape Town has ever seen,” say the events and production duo of the City Hall festival hub, Suné Stassen and Debbie Bird from Rock City Foundation.

Cape Town Food Trucks will be bringing good food to the party with Limoncello and The Grubbery. As two of a growing fleet of food trucks bringing the worldwide phenomenon to Cape Town, they will be outside City Hall in full force serving their own style of street food, ensuring the party continues outside of the City Hall walls.

While the party is in full swing, Open Design Cape Town will welcome the riders of the monthly Moonlight Mass as they finish their ride in front of the City Hall and come in to join in the party and keep things going until the early hours.
