Design connects our city

One tourist asset that has been overlooked…is Cape Town’s creative nature.

This will change with WDC 2014, as a spot light has been cast on Cape Town as THE design destination.
We all have a real opportunity to promote our city as THE design city.

The way we propose to promote our city as a design city, is through this Design Guide App.

Design will be used as the railway, but it will connect all locations on the track.
The app that is build off the MapMyWay web platform.
It will connect the Western Cape Design industries to each other, as well as Design to Visitors of our city.

Functionally, the app pin points these design destinations and links them together for a tailor made route through their preffered design experience.
The Website and the Design Guide App together, are more that a guide. It offers visitors the opportunity to:
• Buy local designers on Long Street
• Explore 10 design hotspots in Woodstock,
• and discover a custom made jewlry route through the city.

And of course, this experience overlays our tourism network. For example,  a visitor can search the Design Guide App for a jewelry showroom in Wale Street.
Their search will return a curated route of custom made jewlry show rooms through the city.
Underlaid in this search will be
• Bean There, a coffee shop on Wale
• The Hilton Hotel on Wale
• The Slave Lodge Museum, at the bottom of Wale

Lets offer our visitors more than the usual souvenir keep sakes, and allow them to take home the Design experience of Cape Town.
