Check out the latest artworks created by the talented Big Issue vendors in the latest October edition.
The Big Issue offers vendors therapeutic art and writing classes as part of its social development programme. They are taught by artist and facilitator Elaine Millin. The featured artist with work up in the online gallery this month is Batsirai Jorofani, 31. It’s his artwork, Autumn Landscape, that you see. (Vendor number: #1881 Pitch: Long Beach Mall, Wynberg)
Batsirai joined The Big Issue in 2011 and is originally from Zimbabwe. He has a marketing diploma, has completed an introduction to computers course, and would like to work in the marketing field one day. He enjoys the art classes offered by The Big Issue as they give him the space to experiment with various materials and explore his artistic side.
He is extremely talented and has sold a few artworks before. He hopes to sell some more in the future. He currently stays in Masiphumelele on his own.
