On Saturday, 12 October, the Maboneng Township Arts Experience formally opens its permanent arts route in the Langa Quarter by making ten homes on Rubusana Street into permanent gallery spaces.

Open Streets will be closing down Rubusana Street to cars and inviting both residents and visitors to occupy the streets as a way to express, interact and experience the street freely, safely and creatively.

Following the formal opening of the homes at 12H00 there will be activities which include yoga, street drawing, skateboarding and games for kids throughout the day. People will travel by train, shuttle and some by bicycle!

This will be a small appetizer for what’s to come in Langa as the galleries continue to live and a number of events continue to sprout.
