This now world-famous restaurant in a triple story building in the city’s restored Heritage Square started out in the front room of Portia and Jason de Smidt’s small cottage in Observatory years ago. Portia learnt the recipes of all Africa from her mother, a diplomat’s wife when she lived in Swaziland. Her cooking tickled the tastebuds of Cape Town and is now tempting tourists from every corner of the globe.
