Paris based pianist Christopher Culpo’s music lies at the confluence of contemporary classical, jazz and free improvisation. His concerts in Cape Town have always played to enthusiastic, full houses and this recital will see him return to the atmospheric Old Town House.

As well as his own compositions, Culpo will be playing music by Porter, Kern, Gershwin and others at his recital at the Old Town House. In fact the program will be a selection of love songs in keeping of the spirit of Saint Valentine’s day. The recital will help to raise funds for the Friends of the Michaelis Collection.

Christopher has degrees from Boston University and the Julliard School, New York, where he has also taught. Since receiving a Fulbright scholarship, he has been based in Europe, teaching at the Paris Conservatoire. In 2012, Christopher was awarded the prestigious Clefworks prize for composition.
