Water is Life – Photo-Exposé by Masixole Feni is the first South African Centre for Photography showcase of the year of WDC 2014 leading up to MOP6 from mid-September – 31st October.
“The South African Centre for Photography in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise du Cap, is presenting the solo Debut of one of our longest resident photographers, from our mentorship program,” writes Jenny Altschuler. “Masixole Feni’s evolution in photography has been dynamic and worthwhile for all concerned. His series, Water is Life, is both aesthetically beautiful and tragic at once, peeling the glittered wrapping off the gift of 20 years of Democracy. ”
Persevering as a dedicated photographer on the edges of the newspaper world, Feni is building a powerful and valuable archive, as witness of environment around him. The exhibition is a tribute to Feni’s mentors over the years, in particular the late Garth Stead and the Icon Image Group of Photographers.
