The Artscape Heritage Festival is celebrating heritage month with song and dance based on inspiring stories by political figures and choreographers. The Steve Biko-inspired theatre production, Biko’s Quest, is one of the shows included in the festival’s programme. Biko’s Quest is based on the Steve Biko Foundation exhibition, The Quest for a True Humanity, which portrays the life and death of the anti-apartheid activist. Other theatre productions on the programme include They Died Singing, Rainbow Scars, Izithyilelo zobuze — Nakedness in Revelation and Un-mute, which is based on the life of the deaf dancer Andile Vellem.
