The V&A Waterfront and Marshall Music are looking for South Africa’s next hot and happening band, regardless of their musical genre.

Andy Warhol proclaimed we all get 15 minutes of fame, but for talented Cape Town bands who heed the call to ‘Take the Stage’ there is a lot more in store.

Entering the competition won’t cost a cent and could catapult your band to superstardom.

The winning band will get the chance to play live to one of the biggest audiences in South Africa at the V&A’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. The band will also walk away with a Marshall Music voucher to the value of R5000 and an AKG Professional D5 microphone for the lead vocalist.

Last year’s winners, Early Hours had this to say about their win, “It was a coming of age for us. It opened our eyes to the world of music in a way we’d only seen in magazines.”

Three preliminary rounds will take place in November, before the final on 13 December, and each of the entrants will be given the opportunity to perform live on the V&A Waterfront’s Amphitheatre stage.

Bands will be judged on musicality which includes song arrangements, artistic ability, originality and presentation, performance, stage dominance and confidence.
