The City of Cape Town is showing off the World Design Capital 2014 projects in an exhibition entitled Transforming Cities. Fondly known as The Wall, the exhibition has been constructed on the Cape Town Civic Centre concourse level.
The exhibition comprises reusable cardboard boxes and electronic devices from Microsoft, a WDC 2014 partner, and tells the story of how the City of Cape Town won the prestigious honour of being named the World Design Capital. It highlights the more than 460 projects that formed part of the year-long celebration of design and its ability to transform lives.
The exhibition shows off the diverse creative talents that have come together for World Design Capital, and at the Civic Centre it will continue to inspire visitors.
‘We previously had a stunning exhibition of the City’s own WDC 2014 projects in this space which showed how the City of Cape Town is applying design-led thinking. With this exhibition of the wider WDC programme, we celebrate the role of a much wider set of stakeholders who have transformed Cape Town this year and will continue to inspire us into the future,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Economic Development, Councillor Garreth Bloor.
Entrance to the Civic Centre is free of charge and the exhibition will be in place for the next couple of months.
