A Night of Spanish song and cuisine at Welgemeend Manor

On Saturday 18 April at  7pm, opera singer Monika Voysey and chef Marc Wassung will join forces to present an elegant Spanish themed soirée that will feature glorious arias and food, at the beautiful Welgemeend Manor House.

Monika, joined by baritone Riaan Hunter and pianist Adrian More will perform popular excerpts from the operas Carmen and Don Giovanni, as well as other light classical pieces.

After tying the knot in 2011, the creative couple decided to combine opera and food and take a different approach by hosting evenings called Sing for your Supper that celebrate music, song and cuisine. Monika is a classically trained mezzo-soprano. She has a wide classical repertoire, having performed as the alto soloist in over fifteen Oratorios, including a modern South African oratorio, Credo, in which she appeared as a soloist alongside Sibongile Khumalo. Monika also performed a lead role in Ndodana-Breen’s world premiere of Winnie: The Opera. Marc has been a chef for more than 20 years. Together with his team, he enjoys creating culinary magic in unique settings like the historical Welgemeend Manor House.
