Soccer enthusiasts can now buy their tickets for the inaugural Cape Town Cup – a football festival which will see host team Ajax Cape Town pitting their ball skills against locals Supersport United and their international counterparts, Portuguese team Sporting Clube de Portugal and Crystal Palace FC.
Tickets for the Cape Town Cup are available at Computicket and fans are urged to buy their tickets early, whether it be for the double-header matches on Friday (24 July) or on Sunday (26 July).
The soccer action will kick off on Friday at 17:45 t the Cape Town Stadium with Supersport United FC and Crystal Palace FC going head to head to secure a spot in the finals. This match will be followed by the Ajax Cape Town and Sporting Clube de Portugal at 20:15, with the teams also doing battle to secure a spot in the next round.
Sunday’s action will start at 13:00, with the losing team of Friday’s first double-header challenging the losing team of the second match. This will be followed by the winners from Friday battling it out to be crowned 2015 Cape Town Cup champions. There will be no extra match time so if there is a stalemate after regulation time, a penalty shootout will decide the champions.
‘We are calling on die-hard soccer fans to come out in their numbers armed with their gees. Let us ignite the iconic Cape Town Stadium once again. It is time to dust off the vuvuzelas and other soccer paraphernalia so we can rally behind the teams doing battle,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Economic Development, Councillor Garreth Bloor.
