The Nedbank #GreenWineAwards public tasting event was hosted on the gorgeous 6th floor Nedbank Auditorium at the V&A Waterfront and mc’ed by Getaway magazine’s publisher, Neil Piper.
Attendees were spoiled with generous tastings of all the winning wines, delectable canapes, and views to inspire a worthy celebration of South Africa’s burgeoning, organic, Green Wine industry.
An entertaining presentation of the winning wines by two of the judges, Dr. Winnie Bowman, Cape Wine Master, Platter’s SA Wine Guide taster and international wine judge; and Jon Meinking, DJ and wine show host on Hashtag radio, contributed to a fun evening out.
In selecting the winning wines, a panel of 8 judges comprising wine experts and industry bloggers tasted 58 organic wines and 81 IPW (Integrated Production of Wine) wines which were entered.
Organic wines are produced without use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or other artificial chemicals. Certified Organic wine farms are audited by an Internationally accredited organisation annually.
