Picture Incomplete
Through storytelling and song, PICTURE INCOMPLETE sketches out the portrait of a man’s life as he celebrates a rather unusual birthday on which an eviction notice arrives advising him to vacate his apartment. As he clears out his stuff, memories from his past, outrageously nosy neighbours and some poignant chance encounters on the street help him to discover who he truly is. By turns hilarious and moving, this solo theatre piece is award-winning contemporary musical theatre that delves into the human obsession with being perfect and unpacks the boxes we use to define ourselves. Created by Trent Armand Kendall (book) and Michael Polese (music and lyrics), PICTURE INCOMPLETE debuted in the United States in 2008, going on to play the New York International Fringe Festival in 2010 to great acclaim and winning the Best Musical award at the United Solo Festival the following year.

Two Parrots and a Sandcastle
Two Parrots and a Sandcastle was named by accident as the title of three improv shows featuring Megan Furniss, Cape Town’s longest running improviser. On each night she will be joined by another fellow improviser and they will perform an hour of two-hander improv, with absolutely nothing planned and where anything can happen.
Megan Furniss brought TheatreSports to Cape Town in 1993, and she has been improvising anywhere for anyone, ever since.
In the last four years, influenced by exciting improv people and groups on her travels, she has been experimenting with different formats of improv. Last year she tried out a series of one-woman and two person shows and she loved them, and so did her audiences at the Alexander Bar and Theatre, the perfect intimate space for trying out anything risky or strange.
This time around she starts off the year with only three shows, and three different creative partners, Tandi Buchan, Leon Clingman and Brett Anderson.
Following the style of long form improv, the performers will (possibly) get a few suggestions from the audience, and then just make it up, for an hour. If you are looking for the perfect creative kick start to your January, this is probably it.

Join this bawdy Dame of Burlesque as she introduces you to the newest performers in Cape Town, and showcases the top current talent at Black Orchid Burlesque in two nights of quality professional and amateur burlesque theatre.
