If music be the food of love, play on … so the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra is playing on at the local home of Shakespeare at the Maynardville Open –Air Festival in Wynberg.

Symphonic Shakespeare opens the festival on January 18, 19, and 20 at 20:15 and will feature some of the most popular music set to some of the bard’s popular plays.

With Brandon Phillips on the podium and narration by Rodney Trudgeon, you can listen to several of the most beloved orchestral works that underscore the immortal Shakespearean words. From Nicolai’s Merry Wives of Windsor to Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky, Berlioz and Prokofiev, you can also mellow in the magic of Mendelssohn and more.
