Zeitz MOCAA has a holiday line-up for kids, cool people and creatives. Here’s a selection of fun activities and exhibitions happening over the holiday period.
Little Ones at Zeitz MOCAA
If you haven’t booked yet for the Zeitz MOCAA children’s holiday workshops and storytelling sessions, there are still a few spots open this week.
Parents/ guardians can explore the museum at their leisure while their children get stuck into creating 2- and 3-dimensional visual art projects inspired by selected artworks in the museum. Using a variety of wet and dry mediums and techniques in painting, drawing, collage, construction, and printmaking, children will explore the creative possibilities of paper, fabric and recycled materials in a nurturing space.

These workshops are free with a daily museum admission of R200 or a museum membership starting at R290 per annum.
On the day, parents/ guardians are requested to register their children at the Centre for Arts Education on Level -1.
Cool People at Zeitz MOCAA
Every Friday this December sip on the world’s most famous champagne while looking at the best sunset the Mother City has to offer. It’s the Moet Champagne Bar at our Level 6 restaurant. Entry to the restaurant is free and doors open at 6pm. If you’d like to book a table for a group,
Creatives at Zeitz MOCAA
Zeitz MOCAA also has a variety of exhibitions on view this holiday.
These include:
TSIATSIA: Searching For Connection, Wianelle Briers
• And So The Stories Ran Away on level -1 (below ground), a group exhibition by student artists aimed at children. The exhibition is an interactive experience where children can touch, play, and otherwise interact with the artworks which is themed around African folk tales.
• TSIATSIA: Searching For Connection in the BMW Atrium. The 15.6 m x 25 m wall-hanging sculpture is one of the largest made to date by Ghanaian artist, El Anatsui.
• Acts at the Crossroads on level 2, by Nigerian-born artist Otobong Nkanga is an exhibition in which we’re asked to consider the earth as an extension of the physical human body, to understand that it too is undeniably alive.
• Why Should I Hesitate: Putting Drawings To Work on levels -1, 0 (ground floor), 1, and 3, by William Kentridge. This extensive survey exhibition covers over 40 years of artistic production in drawing, stop-frame animation, video, prints, sculpture, tapestry, and large-scale installation by this globally acclaimed artist.
• Two Together on level 4, a group exhibition featuring pieces from the museum collection
• Laying Bare, a site-specific, process-based project by South African artist, Kemang Wa Lehulere, who will be using the galleries as his studio space.
