Cape Town Tourism provides a useful guide to top Cape Town attractions during lockdown Level 3.
Under the adjusted level 3 regulations all indoor and outdoor gatherings will be prohibited for 14 days, except for funerals and other limited exceptions, such as restaurants, museums, gyms and casinos.
The nationwide curfew has been extended from 21:00 to 06:00. Non-essential establishments – including shops, restaurants, bars and all cultural venues – must close at 20:00.
These businesses have adjusted their operations to comply with Level 3 restrictions.
TABLE MOUNTAIN AERIAL CABLEWAY
Table Mountain Cableway’s safety regulations are still in place and can be can be viewed here. Weather permitting, their operational times have changed to the following: The first car up is at 08:00 the last car up at 18:00 and the last car down at 19:00. KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS
South African National Biodiversity Institute’s have revised protocols for the operation of National Botanical Gardens under Adjusted Alert Level 3 of lockdown.
Activities permitted during adjusted level 3 are as follows:
• Gardens open to the public from 09:00 to 18:00.
• Walks, hikes, exercise (no organised exercise allowed).
• Restaurants and shops open for sit down meals (according to guidelines issued by the relevant Cabinet member) during garden opening times (09:00 to 18:00).
• Restaurants: subject to a maximum of 50 persons or less for indoor venues and 100 persons or less for outdoor venues and if the venue is too small to hold the prescribed number of persons observing a distance of at least one and a half metres from each other, then not more than 50 percent of the capacity of the venue may be used, subject further to strict adherence to the times of operation provided for in regulation 33(3), health protocols and social distancing measures.
• Conferencing, dining and entertainment facilities are subject to a limitation of a maximum of 50 persons or less for indoor venues and 100 persons or less for outdoor venues and if the venue is too small to hold 50 persons observing a distance of at least one and a half metres from each other, then not more than 50 percent of the capacity of the venue may be used.
• Daily access will be monitored, and limited if necessary, according to the carrying capacity and available space that promotes social distancing in each botanical garden.
• Wearing of a face mask is mandatory.
Prohibited activities/access areas:
• On-site consumption and/or sale of liquor
• Concerts
• Social gatherings
• Events
• Trail runs/Lunar runs suspended until further notice
ROBBEN ISLAND MUSEUM
Following the address by President Ramaphosa, Robben Island Museum took a decision to suspend tours on 29 December 2020 in order to afford government to unpack Level 3 regulations for museums and cultural sites.
Based on the revised Government Gazette regulations, RIM’s revised tour operations will be as follows:
– RIM will offer tours on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 09:00 and 13:00.
– Maximum capacity aboard ferries will remain at 70%, buses will operate at 50% capacity and tour numbers will remain at 25 people per tour guide upon arrival on the Island.
– The festive season month-long special will continue to be applicable for midweek bookings.
– Rescheduling will be at no cost.
– Tours of the island last three-and-a-half hours. Each leg of the ferry trip takes between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the vessel used and the sea conditions.
– If a tour is cancelled due to weather conditions or for other reasons, visitors can re-book for the next available tour or receive a full refund.
– All tours are subject to availability, demand and are weather dependent.

CAPE POINT
Cape Point operating hours remain unchanged. Open at 07:00, last entry at 17:00 and all to exit by 18:00.All beaches are closed: no surfing, no walking on the beach. This affects the Shipwreck trail and will be closed too. Picnic sites are closed: Buffels closed and Bordjiesrif closed. No alcohol will be allowed anywhere in the park.The Flying Dutchman funicular will be operational daily 09:00 – 17:00. Two Oceans Restaurant and Tiger’s Eye store (gift store) will only operate from daily 09:00 – 16:00, while the takeaway food shop will trade from 09:00 – 16:30 daily.
CITY SIGHTSEEING CAPE TOWN
All Red Bus tours are open.
However, the following tours are affected:
1. Franschhoek & Stellenbosch wine region Explorer Tour – Closed – 15th Jan 2021;
2. Sunset bus tour – Closed – 15th Jan 2021 3. Cape Wine Bus – Closed – 15th Jan 2021.
TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM
The Two Oceans Aquarium has adjusted its opening hours in line with the announcements by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the subsequent revised regulations according to the Disaster Management Act.
From 29 December 2020, “Extended Hours” will no longer be in place and the Aquarium will be open from 09:00 – 18:00, daily.
All Covid protocols and regulations remain in place.
SANPARKS
South African National Parks announced that its national parks will remain open as per the strict amended level three regulations laid out by the President.
SANParks Acting CEO Xola Mkefe said in line with the amended regulations all day and overnight guests are still welcomed… “and everyone is encouraged to abide by the regulations when entering any of our national parks.”

MIRAGE CATAMARAN
The Traditional Sunset cruise with cocktail is now the Twilight Cruise with mocktail to accommodate the level 3 restrictions. It’s back in harbour by 19:30.
GREEN POINT URBAN PARK
UPDATE 3 Jan 2021: The park is only accessible from the South Gate in Bill Peters Road.
Green Point Urban Park is open! The number of people entering the park per day is being monitored and is currently in the safe zone regarding capacity.
