Light and Shade is a collaborative exhibition of hand made lamp bases and lamp shades, featuring unique, one of a kind ceramic lamp bases by Sarah Walters, and hand printed lamp shades by Heather Moore of Skinny laMinx.
The exhibition opened on 1st September and the show will have over 50 lamp bases, each one made by hand on the potter wheel by Sarah in a wide variety of colours and forms. To compliment the bases, Heather has hand printed fabric to create never to be repeated shades exclusive to this exhibition.
You will be able to choose a base, and pair it with a shade to suit your space. Alternatively you will be able to select a fabric from the Skinny laMinx range and they will make a shade for especially for you. This is a unique opportunity to come and have some fun and put together a totally one of a kind lamp base and shade that will work just for you and your home.
Heather Moore is the owner of Skinny laMinx. Heather started screen printing onto fabric, just for fun. Next thing her hobby became a business. Her simple, clean pattern designs and unusual colour palette are inspired by every day things, her love of mid century modern and a dose of African chic.
Sarah Walters is a third generation potter who studied Fine Art sculpture in the UK before apprenticing with her father and eventually going on to become a full time studio potter. She lives and works in Newlands Village, with a showroom and studio that is open to the public.
