Take the Stage Series, at the V&A Waterfront, is back this Summer and what better way to enjoy the warm outdoors than with free, live music concerts from October to March 2022.
The Take the Stage Series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Here’s the line up for October.
TAKE THE STAGE PRESENTS: Cameron Ward Trio
WHEN: 13h00 Saturday, 9 October | WHERE: Silo Precinct | Cost Free
International solo artist and guitarist, Cameron Ward will perform on Saturday, 9 October at the Silo Precinct. Ward grew up in Lotus River and at the age of six, his mother sent him to music school. He later formed a church band with his relatives called Cousins for Christ and was stuck with a guitar because that was the only instrument left to play. He was influenced by guitarists such as Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Jonathan Butler and Jimmy Dludlu, to name a few. Ward performed with the late Hugh Masekela at Carnegie Hall in New York, Yoshi’s Jazz Club in Oakland and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
TAKE THE STAGE PRESENTS: Jasmine Minter and Amy Jones
WHEN: 14h00 and 14h30 Sunday, 17 October | WHER: Clock Tower | Cost Free
Jasmine Minter, a 21-year-old singer and songwriter will perform on Sunday, 17 October at the Clock Tower. She has been performing all her life and her passion has always been music. Jasmine has shared the stage with legends such as Prime Circle, David Kramer, Ard Matthews, Gavin Edwards, Majozi, and Jules Terea to a name but a few. She has performed at Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts, the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, and the Baxter theatre, and been part of festivals such as the Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Music Festival as well as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
Singer Amy Jones will showcase her talents on Sunday, 17 October at the Clock Tower. She was born in Paarl, and launched her career in October 2016 with her single called Sunrise. Jones won an award at the Dance Music Awards South Africa in 2018 for the Best EDM Record of the Year on the song “You & me”.
TAKE THE STAGE PRESENTS: Jacob Swann
WHEN: 18h00 Saturday, 30 October | WHERE: Pierhead Deck | Cost Free
Cape Town born singer and songwriter Jacob Swann, will perform on Saturday, 30 October at Pierhead Deck. Swann has roots firmly planted in folk, blues, soul and jazz. After the success of his debut album Brother, he has been playing sold out shows across the Mother City and entertaining young and old alike. For an experience that takes you back to a time when Creedence Clearwater Revival dominated the radio airwaves and The Beatles kept your foot tapping, this show cannot be missed.
