The inaugural Cape Town Art Weekend will see organisations extend their opening hours simultaneously for a special programme of exhibitions, events, and other exciting offerings. Goodman Gallery opens  Dor Guez’s, Letters from the Greater Maghreb on Saturday 6 November.
Cape Town Art Weekend is a collaborative initiative launched to invite existing and new audiences back into the city’s art spaces. Organisations from across the city’s arts ecology will participate in the three-day festival, including art centres, commercial galleries, artist studios, museums, and foundations.
For the programme, Goodman Gallery presents Dor Guez’s, Letters from the Greater Maghreb. The exhibition features Guez’s three-channel video installation Colony, and his latest body of work Letters from the Greater Maghreb that is currently on display at the Jewish Museum in New York. In these two bodies of work, there is a strong connection between land, language and body. These are all memory receptacles, as well as being the thread connecting the two installations, which address displacement, colonialism, language
