Montebello Design Centre is the focus this week on the Sanlam Arts Round Up, and Tessa Graaff has lots to tell us as she walks us through this multi-faceted suburban jewel

Tessa Graaff, Managing Director at Montebello reports that they are extremely busy, with people enjoying the beautiful outdoor spaces. With this in mind, they have developed the Tree Trail, to focus on the magnificent collection of trees that gives Montebello a vey special ambience. Following this trail, and the Heritage trail will reveal some of the history of this special destination. The Centre is situated in the farm buildings of the historic site of Montebello. These buildings and land have a colourful history, being the birth place of Ohlssons Brewery and Continental China. Today, Montebello Design Centre is home to a broad spectrum of designers, innovators, artists and crafters.
Tessa also talks about the future and the way they are re-thinking design and it’s importance in shaping the way we move ahead.
The restoration of the glass house is an example of both preserving and taking it into the future, working on the idea of cool ideas from the hot house, which is also all about nurturing and growing. So Montebello might be a cool place to hang out at, but it also has a robust energy to inspire and stimulate.
