International Museum Day was on 18 May, an annual event that emphasises the crucial role that museums play in society and the 2023 Art Craft + Museums Map will show you where to go!

Iziko Museums of South Africa consists of 11 national museums, each with its own history and character. Iziko is an isiXhosa word, meaning ‘hearth’, is also understood as “the centre of cultural activity”. The museums that make up Iziko, are spaces for cultural interaction – igniting connections between our shared history, our heritage, and each other.
Other museums on the map include the iconic Zeitz MOCAA, Robben Island Museum, Cape Town Diamond Museum, Cape Heritage Museum, SA Jewish Museum, Norval Foundation, and Rupert Museum. Let’s not forget the Nelson Mandela in Cape Town – Legacy Exhibition, and Truth to Power Exhibition.
