Opening: First Thursday, 5th October at 4pm

The Wildlife 2023 Group Exhibition is an annual event when The Cape Gallery invites artists committed to the preservation of our natural heritage to take part in an exhibition showcasing the abundance and variety SA Wildlife.

South Africa is veined with rivers that spill, for a brief rainy season down the slopes of the mountain ranges and course seawards, winding in lazy loops on the lowlands where the marshlands occur. Water nurtures life in Africa.

For millennia thirsty herds of buffalo and wildebeest attended by predators have cut pathways across the veld seeking water and migrating birds have returned each year to breed and feed in the wetlands.

Water is a vital resource shared by man and beast alike. Waterholes, riverbanks, and the seashore are excellent spots to watch the game that congregate to drink there. It is here the artists will often find their subject.

Bird and animal studies on this exhibition offer visitors an opportunity to recall their experiences in wild places, to see and better understand the urgency of preserving South Africa’s natural heritage.
