KUIER@TheCastle – the Craft + Design Institute (CDI), in partnership with the Castle of Good Hope, launches an exciting new monthly market on 24 February 2024 and Erica Elk tells us about this new venture.
The market will feature a diverse array of Cape Town’s creative talent at one of the country’s eminent cultural tourism attractions which is the home of the IZIKO William Fehr Collection and the Cape Heritage Museum.
.Listen to the Sanlam Arts Round Up on Fine Music Radio FMR 101.3fm on Fridays at 17h30
Erica tells us that there will be about 80 vendors selling their products all designed and made i n Cape Town. The market also features food and entertainment at this fabulous heritage site!
The Craft + Design Institute has been in operation for over 20 years with its focus being to work with creative entrepreneurs – helping them to access markets and provide business advice. This market provides a new showcase to hundreds and even thousands of local creatives. And Kuier@TheCastle will be a monthly event.
The range of goods is extensive. Craft signifies a method of making, whether its in the field of jewelry, clothing, shoes, bags, food, homeware – in fact any product you can think of that’s essentially made by hand. The hand signifies an artisanal aspect. Craft is about direct engagement of the human being with the product they are making. South Africa is full of talent and imagination and you can see that in the products that will be shown.
